IT'S TERM 2!

Goodbye Term 1, Hello Term 2!

Now for term 2, we have some major objectives for IPW lessons of term 2:

- Complete the brochure for the semester's presentation.
- Complete Day 1 and Day 2's itinerary with details on each event.
- Complete the meal plans and plans how the events should be carried out.
- Prepare the itinerary and decide, analyse it, and make any minor and major last corrections before the presentation.

For semester 2 mostly would be EDITING and some is doing the rest of the whole tour. That's all for term 2, if i miss out any, please tell me (especially team mates).

- Jovi

Week 10 Reflection - Jovi

Since we've done our 1/4 of the whole itinerary. I've asked Zachariah about the brochure and he said he's designing it. But however, we need to speed up our process. In which, we need to look more at those websites, those webs with good details and ideas for our project. Anyway, for Yong Yi's case, I need to get some events to let him manage. But currently he's doing the amazing race planning and we've planned for the amazing race to be on the second day.

For you hao's case, he didn't know much and I think it would be better now if he got his macbook (he has it now though). With the macbook, we can do research together and need not worry about his case. :) That's a relieve! :D

Week 8 Reflection - You Hao

I think we can have some of the food like the chinese food, for example: Chinese Porridge, Chinese You Tiao, chicken rice hainanese version. We can also have some western food that i know, Nachos (the mexican side loves it i think), Spaghetti (most people should love it), Hot dogs (popular food among the world!!!).

For desert, we can have some pie, cherry pie or APPLE PIE (they should love it), we can also have some chinese-asian hot desert like Black Sesame Paste, Almond paste, or whatever paste... But most important is we shouldn't make the lunch too much dishes, until their stomach burst..

- You Hao

Week 8 Reflection-Yong Yi

Day 1
We can bring them to the Marina Square, since Jovi suggested about shopping. But the shopping will be at night, like what Mr.Wong commented.
After that we can also bring them around the Shenton Way to show them around as
Day 2 is the Amazing race, they can get to know the area and be prepared for the race.
For lunch, we can let them get to know the type of food we eat and bring them to the Old market.

- Yong Yi

Worksheet Image - Worksheet 8

Last week we've done our survey and we've gotten the results. Here's the results after the survey have been conducted last week, Here's the details:

1. Most of the sportsmen is usually around the teen age to the young adult age. (14 to 21 years old approximately) Hence, our itinerary should have more events that we teenagers like - we should know ourselves though in our whole planning.

2. Most of the sportsmen love to relax and chill-out, and exercise (of course). So we can roughly have some physical events and some relaxing events in our itinerary.

3. The sportsmen do not mind eating asian food, but they prefer western food. However, the asian can accept both of the types of food. Thus, we can go to a special restaurant and perhaps request them to have a western-asian type of dish, like combining curry and some nachos in a dish for appetiser, FOR EXAMPLE.

4. We should go shopping at night as most prefer to go shopping at night rather than shopping in the afternoon or in the morning. So we should put the shopping time after dinner, maybe the first and last day of the tour.

Okay thats all we got from the survey. I think we'd a rough idea what should we plan in the itinerary. :P

This Week's Progress

WEEK 8's PROGRESS.

This is our progress sheet for week 8 lesson, we've done the first 2 hours of the day 1. We'll continue further next lesson, right now, we're discussing what to do after the breakfast. Perhaps we can go somewhere? We've to check the Singapore Tourism Board website for some examples on the itinerary, we might get some great ideas there that could aid us in our itinerary-planning. ;)

Week 7 Reflection - Yong Yi

For the 'Amazing Race', I suggest that we don't take the whole of Singapore, instead, we just take a small area of Singapore like the south: Marina Bay area as the small race.
I discourage using the pencil holder as the souvenir, I think we should design something like....
a small keychain?
We can also invite them to our houses instead of letting them live in a hotel so that they can feel at home and also adapt to the culture of Singapore.

Thursday, February 18, 2010

Week 7 Reflection - Jovi

Well, Mr.Wong mentioned that maybe we could make the shopping to be at night. I agree with that point, I also discussed with the rest of my team that we should have the shopping at night as night time as mentioned by me is a perfect time for shopping and the best mood of the day for shopping. Most shopping centres also open late, according to Zach. Yes, i do believe so. :)

Well anyway, I shall put zach in the designing part for the souvenir. And for yong yi, you should be doing about the manpower. For you hao, i want you to do the dishes for dinner and breakfast and lunch. :)

All's set? we shall start our discussion ASAP!

- Jovi

Worksheet 6 - Image

Here's the survey that we've planned to let the sportsmen take. They've to do it by heart and honestly and no plagiarism. :)
After the survey, we would roughly know what type of sportsmen will be coming to Singapore and what type of program will they like, some cool and boastful events, or whatever.

Anyway i couldn't use Grab to take the doc as the grab formats were in .TIFF format and the blogger don't allow it. LIKE DAMN :(

Week 6 - Zachariah's Reflection

Hi Everyone,

Happy Chinese New Year! Hope you all had a good rest and collected a lot of Ang Pow money during the long weekend!

Anyway, as Jovi has recommended we can have an amazing race around Singapore for the athletes, we can have different stations around Singapore such as Little India, Geylang Serai, Chinatown, and Orchard Road. At each station, we can have mini games or challenges to help the athletes get to know Singapore better. The winning group can get complimentary tickets to the Singapore Flyer or Sentosa.

That's all for today's reflection. Hope all of you study hard and do well for the coming common tests. Bye!

-Zachariah

Week 6 Reflection - Jovi

Please do update your reflection regularly. After each IPW lesson, I hope everyone of you post your reflection of that week. Do not wait for last minute to do it. The results of the last-minute reflection wouldn't be as good as a cherry pie. ;P Anyway, do your weekly reflections by one day before the IPW lesson, I really wish you'd cooperate with me and other team mates, together we're a team right?

Anyway, I'm glad that we're managed to finish 3 quarters of the itinerary for Day 1 of the tour. We're not done with the events ineach item. Our meals are not decided yet, especially where to dine and what dishes to order. We need more information and in depth ones on that part of our project. We've planned an amazing race in Raffles Place as a event in Day 1 and we need your ideas what to do and what will it be like for the amazing race.

We still need events to take place in the Raffles Place, Clarke Quay and Suntec city - apart from shopping, tell me with i miss out any events.

So please cooperate and do your regular reflections. We'll discuss in depth about our project in the next comin' week. :D
Happy CNY!

Week 3 - You Hao's Reflection

Hi,
We can bring them to tourists attractions such as Singapore's Chinatown where evolved around 1821 when the first Chinese junk arrived from Xiamen, Fujian province in China. The passengers, all men, set up home around the south of the Singapore River which is known today as Telok Ayer. Chinatown’s local name - Niu Che Shui (Bullock Cart Water) arose from the fact each household at that time had to collect fresh water from the wells in Ann Siang Hill and Spring Street, using bullock-drawn carts.

-You Hao

Week 4 Reflection - Yong Yi

We have already find out about their age group and what sport they're doing.
Like DnT, we can make souvenirs(not pencil holder) to the sportsmen.
So that they can leave a good impression on Singapore...

Week 1 worksheet - Image

This is the image of the week 1 worksheet that we're supposed to put up on. This is not the whole page but this is the important one. This image may not include certain instructions in the real page.

*Image not done, need teacher's advise.

I will be doing further on the itinerary! :D

Week 5 Reflection - Jovi

So, we have think about the first day planning on week 4, but we need to think of the activites in those places, maybe a treasure hunt there in the Singapore flyer, or something like "Spot the building" while inside the Singapore flyer cabin? We're thinking on those for week 5 and we've decided to tell our plans for week 6 lesson. I will prepare a word document and write down our itinerary. We must try to do half of the itinerary of the Tour by this semester.

This is to prepare us for the presentation at the end of this semester. Hopefully the judges could leave a good impression on us. And I think we should do more preparations! We're definitely wasting every IPW lesson doing the author permission stuff, we need more TIME DISCUSSING!!!!!! Week 6 lesson, i am gonna start the discussion, I will kick off the author request and blog matters OUT for all lessons. We must start our research and discussion.

Yong yi - please DO your reflections.
Zachariah - please DO your reflections.
You hao - I will set your google acc asap during my freetime, and i will pass it to u thru facebook. :D

- Jovi

Week 4 - Reflection

Now what we've discussed about week 4 is the famous visitor sites that are popular in Singapore. We also discussed about the sportsman group age, they're approximately 14 - 21 years old right?

So we also think that we should bring them to some places that they would like. Singapore Flyer is one of our decisions, and we think we're gonna bring them to Sentosa, which I think they would definitely like it. After all, they're roughly teenagers, we could also bring them to some historical sites in Singapore, we would not spend much time there - maybe 1 hour or 30 minutes will do. After all, we know they might get bored by it, and we wouldn't want it to happen.

I am gonna upload the documents for Week 1, 2, 3, 4 worksheets on the blog real soon, be sure to check out,

Yong yi, do your week 3, 4, 5 reflection.
Zachariah, do your week 4 and 5 reflection.
You hao, you're an exception, the next IPW lesson, I will try to make your google account. Hopefully you are able to access the blog to post your reflections. :D

- Jovi

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

Week 3 - Zachariah's Reflection

Hi everyone!

Sorry for not posting regularly, I had some problems logging into blogger. Anyway, everything is solves and you can expect to see my reflection every week starting from now!

Anyway, as Jovi has suggested we can bring the athletes from around the world to some of Singapore's most famous tourists attractions such as the Singapore Flyer, the Merlion Park, the National Museum, Fort Canning Park and Sentosa. As for the introduction of Singapore's cuisine to the athletes, we can bring them to try some of Singapore's delicacies such as, chicken rice, oyster omelette, char kway teow, etc. However, we should try not to bring them to try Singapore's famous chilli crab or laksa as these foods are spicy and may result in a stomach ache and affect their performance during the YOG.

Well, I think that's all for my Week 3 reflection. Hope Youhao would be able to have access to the blog asap. Bye!

-Zachariah

Week 3 Reflection - Jovi

Hello! Well, this blog is inactive sometimes, and I am trying to update ASAP, well, apart from the studies, I still have to care about my Council stuff. And I hope Zachariah and You Hao can try to get the author permission SOON! Oh crap. I think our group's reflection is very BAD.

Anyway for week 3, we have gather roughly what our main focus of the itinerary of the YOG sportsman 3-day tour. The main purpose is to let them know WELL about Singapore's culture, and Singapore being a unique country. :) So I am planning to bring them to the seven wonders of Singapore and maybe let them to taste our Singapore cuisine and hopefully they know HOW UNIQUE IS SINGAPORE!

So, Zachariah and You Hao, i wish you all get it done ASAP (the author permission). If not, I can ask Yong Yi for help, because he had the author permission. Anyway, Yong Yi and me are able to post our reflections, and Yong Yi, thanks for writing your reflection for week 2, now whats left for you is the week 3's reflection, I will remind you to do it tomorrow.

So, for this week 4's lesson, we will be planning our day 1 itinerary half of it. Which is from sunrise to noon time. :D

Happy schooling! :D

- Jovi

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

Week 2 Reflection - Yong Yi

I suggest we gather all the research that we have noted from our DnT research questions as we also did the same topic(YOG) for DnT. So that, we can easily know what our plan for the tour will be.

Like that, it will make the planning and project easier and convenient. Besides, we have also did research homework for the sportsman age group and mostly where theyre from.... So right, we can know what they will expect, and their expections of the whole tour. Like that, our task would definitely be much easier, right?

And most of the sportsman is in the western and asian. So we might wanna combine the meals in a western and asian way, so that asians and westerns can enjoy their meals. For the excursion and etc, I have not confirm yet.... so i think we'll discuss further on week 3 or week 4.

- yong yi

Jovi's Reflection

I think that this week, we have done deciding what title for our IPW research project, and we did some research about our topic. Our topic we have selected is "Youth Olympic Games 2010 3-day tour Planing" in short form (YOG). I think that this topic is interesting and exciting we are Singaporeans, and we're planning a 3-day tour around Singapore, and I feel excited to bring them to places that I like, and they might like it as well. After all, they're tourism attractions anyway.

Anyway, I feel that the topic really suits our group, we're all Singaporeans - well maybe 1 of our group members aren't. But, I still think that our group will like it, after all, we live in Singapore right? Anyway, i feel excited doing research - maybe I should start my research! :D Anyway, I better do my work first. ._.

So here's my reflection after the week 3 lesson. :) Signing off from here.

- Jovi, Group Leader.
p.s. Lets start the research ASAP. :P

Brainstorming For Ideas

We need ideas on what are we planing to do for the GRACE (IPW) group project. Either a solar-powered appliances, or something that is creative, and I hope that all group members should be able to come up with an idea. At least one. I have an idea of making something that is environment-friendly. And what do I mean by that is that the thing we're gonna make is something friendly to the environment. It won't destroy the environment for sure.

Anyway, do send me your suggestions or ideas on what we're gonna make for GRACE asap. I wanna get a rough idea what we will be doing, before we start the research and those stuff.

Remember that:
- It should be environmentally-friendly object - save the planet!
- It should be something not too extreme isane - e.g. a rocket to space.
- It should be relevant.
- It shouldn't be crap.

Please send to my email. :) Chat on me on facebook to get my email.

- Jovi, I wonder what shall we make...

Welcoming Speech!

Welcome fellow group members or viewers or teachers. We're the group 38-42 of Class 2 Francis in the year 2010 for the GRACE (IPW) this year. This is our group blog. It's actually still on maintenance still, but we'll try to get this done as soon as possible. Anyway, for group members, I will let you know about the blog settings, and those blog administrative small stuff. Hopefully, enjoy your visit!

- Jovi, Group member
